It's another Snow Day in Greenville, NC, and whether you've been outside or not -- it's time for a hot toddy.

Greenville rarely gets significant snowfall. In fact, average annual snowfall is 2 inches.

Today, kids of all ages have been enjoying the second consecutive day off from school -- and work -- after Winter Storm Grayson dumped at least 4 inches of snow on the area.

If you've been sledding, having a snowball fight, building a snowman, cross-country skiing -- or just looking out the window at the snow-covered neighborhood -- you're going to need a warm beverage or two.

Here are some cozy one-serving suggestions (with and without alcohol) from Epicurious.com:

Hot Toddy

  • 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) bourbon
  • 1 tablespoon mild honey
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup boiling-hot water

Put bourbon, honey, and lemon juice in a 6-ounce mug. Top off with hot water and stir until honey is dissolved.

Hot Cocoa for One

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup milk or any combination of milk, half-and-half, or cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whisk together the cocoa, sugar, salt, and about 2 tablespoons milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until cocoa and sugar are dissolved. Whisk in the rest of the milk and heat it over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until it is hot. Stir in the vanilla and serve.

Mulled Wine

  • 8 ounces dry red wine
  • Dash Angostura bitters (optional)
  • 2 or 3 cloves
  • Small piece cinnamon stick
  • Twist lemon peel
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Pinch allspice

Combine all ingredients in a small, heavy saucepan and heat, but do not allow to boil. Strain into an 8-ounce mug.
